Joined in 2006 as an installation helper, trained in sheet-metal fabrication, and became lead installer in 2011. Now leads the install side and is handing the lead installer role to a successor.

Two people, a house in the north suburbs, and a decision to do the work properly. Thirty-odd years later their daughter runs it.

A business that started in a basement
Greg and Pam Vickers founded GV's Heating & Cooling in 1990, out of the basement of their own home. Greg did the service, the maintenance and the installations. Pam was a stay-at-home mother who answered the phones and helped him run the company.
That is the whole of it at the start — two people, a house, and the work.

2006
The next generation arrives, separately
John Mroczek joined as an installation helper in 2006, while he was dating Greg and Pam's daughter Dawn. He went to school to master sheet-metal fabrication and became lead installer in 2011.
Dawn started part-time the same year. She swept floors, handled inventory, answered phones, ran dispatch and did the accounting, and eventually became a Comfort Advisor. Her particular interest is the one this company is now known for: hot and cold spots and comfort problems other companies could not solve.

Today
Second generation, same house rules
John and Dawn lead GV's now as a second-generation, family-owned and operated company. John is moving further into management leadership and passing the lead installer role to someone new — which is its own kind of continuity.
The company is still independent. It is still family-run. And it still works the way Greg set it up: do the job properly, explain what you found, and stand behind it.

Greg and Pam's daughter. Started part-time in 2006 doing whatever needed doing — floors, inventory, phones, dispatch, accounting — and became a Comfort Advisor. Drawn to the comfort problems nobody else has managed to solve.
Greg Vickers
Founder
Founded the company in 1990 and did the service, maintenance and installation himself.
Pam Vickers
Founder
Founded the company alongside Greg in 1990, answering phones and helping run the business while raising a family.
